Note from Faisal Khan, CEO, Project Six

Many thought that creating a government oversight organization like Project Six was an impossible and futile task. The challenges in Chicago and Illinois were too great and the possibility for success too small. But despite all that, we have created an oversight organization in Illinois that is engaged, influential, productive and here to stay.

In our first year, Project Six has tried to instill transparency, ethical reforms and accountability for our elected officials at all levels. Project Six has unveiled investigations into corruption in Chicago that raised significant interest and questions about conduct of our elected officials and the consequences of their actions.

Based on our work, campaign finance fraud has been reported, tax-dollar waste was questioned, a high-level city employee has resigned because of a conflict of interest, and a number of referrals have been made to government agencies responsible for ethics and criminal oversight.

I will keep this short: Thank you. We could not have done this without your support. Our mission is to change the “Chicago Way” and bring back a semblance of good government to Chicago and Illinois.

But despite our successes, we are not done. Chicago’s corrupt system is still alive and well, and many of our elected officials in Chicago and across Illinois are attempting to commandeer even more power. Because of all this, tips continue to roll in and investigations, reports and stories continue.

We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing so far and make sure that someone is looking out for you and your interests. Nothing less. We fight together in fixing Chicago and Illinois.

Our team at Project Six does this because we care about Chicago and Illinois, not just as employees of this organization but as residents of this city and state. We care about our families, our friends, our neighbors and anyone else who believes that honest and transparent government is the only way we can move forward as a successful city and state.

Project Six will continue to effectuate change, and I hope you will stand side by side with us.
